The Greek Space Tech Forum 2025 successfully held on July 1–2, at the Athens Conservatory and streamed online, underscoring Greece’s growing presence in the global “New Space” economy—also known as Space 4.0. Held. Τhe event was organized by ethosEVENTS, in co-organization with the Association of Greek Space Technology & Applications Industries (EVIDITE) and the Greek Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster) of Corallia.
The forum highlighted the rapid transformation and expansion of the Greek space ecosystem. In recent years, Greece has demonstrated strong growth momentum, greater international engagement, and a commitment to technological innovation, driven by both public and private sector investment. A major catalyst in this progress has been the National Microsatellite Program, co-funded through national and European funds, which reflects the Greek government’s substantial investment in advancing space capabilities. This initiative supports not only infrastructure development but also the growth of a vibrant, multi-disciplinary space industry. The Greek space ecosystem today includes a robust network of high-tech companies, academic institutions, research centers, and start-ups, all of which are actively developing specialized, cutting-edge technologies. These innovations support a wide range of applications—from Earth observation and navigation to telecommunications, climate monitoring, and defense—positioning Greece as a competitive player on the European and global stage. The Forum served as a key platform for dialogue among industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs, addressing strategic opportunities such as Greece’s role in the ESA Ministerial Council 2025 (CM25), commercialization pathways, and the integration of space technologies across sectors including shipping, tourism, real estate, and infrastructure.
At the Greek Space Tech Forum 2025, the Geosystems Hellas stand welcomed prominent guests including Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance, and Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Hellenic Republic. Both engaged in discussions with Betty Charalampopoulou, CEO of GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A., exploring opportunities for cooperation and innovation.
Throughout the Forum, Betty Charalampopoulou (CEO) and Christos Kontopoulos (CTO) of GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. actively contributed to panels and speeches, emphasizing the critical need to foster innovation and collaboration across the space and maritime sectors, highlighted how cutting-edge space technologies are being adapted to address challenges.
Speaking at Panel I of the Greek Space Tech Forum 2025 (#gstf25), entitled “Opportunities for Greece in National Space Programme”, Betty Charalampopoulou, Director of the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC), underscored the strategic progress Greece has made in its space sector and urged stakeholders to build on recent momentum. Betty Charalampopoulou highlighted the country’s success in utilizing the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), calling it a “big bet” that Greece has already won. “We need to capitalize on what we have achieved so far,” she stated, stressing the need for continuity and stability to enable Greek space companies to commercialize their capabilities and compete effectively at the European and global level.
At panel focused on “Opportunities for Greece at the ESA Ministerial Council 2025 (CM25)”, Kontopoulos highlighted Greece’s growing presence in the European space sector and emphasized the need for a strategic and sustainable approach to the country’s National Space Program. Kontopoulos pointed to the longstanding success of Geosystems Hellas, a Greek geoinformatics company with an established record of collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). “We have been participating in both domestic and international programs for years, and this reflects the capability of Greek companies to contribute meaningfully to Europe’s space ecosystem,” he stated.
On the second day of the forum, Betty Charalampopoulou took part in Panel VIII, titled “Space & Maritime,” where she discussed among other speakers, the potential for Greece to play a leading role in shaping European initiatives in the shipping sector. During the discussion, was addressed the key question of whether there is room for Greek leadership in the Space & Maritime domain, and emphasized the country’s strategic position, expertise, and the importance of coordinated national efforts to influence EU-level policymaking and innovation.
