SAT4ΦOREST
The SAT4ΦOREST project aims to develop an integrated satellite-based monitoring service for the protection and sustainable management of Greece’s forests. By leveraging data from the National Microsatellite Constellation, the project provides real-time and high-resolution information on forest cover, biomass, health, and fire risk, enabling early detection of threats such as wildfires, deforestation, and land degradation. SAT4ΦOREST supports evidence-based decision-making for public authorities, contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity conservation of Natura 2000 areas, and sustainable land management, while reinforcing Greece’s autonomy in Earth Observation capabilities.
Geosystems Hellas (GSH) is the co- prime of the project and is responsible for the services related to the Natura 2000 areas monitoring as well as for the integration of services into the Greek governmental hub IT infrastructure.
The SAT4ΦOREST project is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under the Greece 2.0 National Plan, as part of the country’s National Satellite Space Project.
