SAT4ΦOREST

The SAT4FOREST project develops a satellite-based monitoring service for the protection and sustainable management of Greece’s forests. It uses data from the National Microsatellite Constellation to deliver high-resolution and near real-time information on forest cover, biomass, forest health, and fire risk.
The project helps public authorities detect threats early, including wildfires, deforestation, and land degradation. It supports better decision-making, strengthens climate resilience, protects biodiversity in Natura 2000 areas, and promotes sustainable land management. It also reinforces Greece’s independence in Earth Observation services.
Geosystems Hellas (GSH) is the co-prime contractor of the project. The company is responsible for Natura 2000 monitoring services and for integrating these services into the Greek governmental hub’s IT infrastructure.
The project receives funding from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under the Greece 2.0 National Plan. It is part of Greece’s National Satellite Space Project.
