FOCUS AREA:
In the realm of port operations, optimizing performance and sustainability necessitates a profound understanding of geoinformation requirements and market priorities. EO4The port of the future aims to modernize port services by fostering better connectivity and zero emissions, thereby ensuring optimal service provision across all ports. Embracing the vision of ESA, this initiative leverages Earth Observation (EO) services and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance port intelligence and facilitate knowledge-based decision-making. By bridging gaps in EO utilization within the port environment, the project endeavors to develop a comprehensive set of data-driven applications to improve efficiency, security, and sustainability. Through stakeholder engagement and the establishment of industry guidelines, the project seeks to promote widespread adoption of EO-based products, fostering economic growth and job creation in the European port sector. Lessons learned from this endeavor will not only advance port operations but also open new opportunities for the EO sector within the port market.
Geosystems Hellas (GSH) is the prime contractor of the project and is responsible for project management and the organization of all activities of the project including subcontractor management to perform the project in an effective and efficient manner. Moreover, Geosystems will develop new EO products and integrate them with the ESA GTIF platform. Such products may be related to ship detection, change day over day to get measures of activity, general vessel classification inferring a bunch of things from the types of vessels and number and/or general classification of shipping container activity either aggregate shipping containers or count etc. GSH is also responsible for the development of a high-level roadmap for turning the current EO capabilities into good practice EO guidelines for the selected industry sector including actions, budgets, and milestones.
