XYLELLA
The Xylella project developed an innovative Earth Observation solution for the early detection and monitoring of Xylella fastidiosa (Xf) infections in olive trees. By combining satellite data and Remote Sensing techniques, the project focused on identifying signs of infection before visible symptoms appeared.
The developed approach supported the monitoring of potentially infected olive orchards and provided valuable information for studying the presence, progression and geographical spread of the bacterium. These capabilities contributed to improved disease surveillance, earlier intervention and more effective protection of olive cultivation.
GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. (GSH) coordinated the project and participated in all Work Packages. The company was responsible for the management of specific Work Packages and contributed to the preparation and delivery of key project outputs. Through its coordination and technical involvement, GSH supported the successful development of satellite-based tools for the early detection and monitoring of Xylella fastidiosa in olive orchards.
