EO4Port
The EO4ThePort of the Future project modernized port management by integrating Earth Observation (EO) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into operational and environmental monitoring systems. The project supported more efficient, secure and sustainable port operations by developing data-driven services that improved decision-making, environmental monitoring and the transition towards smart, low-emission port ecosystems.
As the project’s prime contractor, GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. (GSH) was responsible for the overall management, coordination and successful implementation of the project activities. The developed Earth Observation solutions included an EO Tide Lines service and Land Classification capabilities, enabling the monitoring and analysis of coastal and port environments.
GSH also developed two key algorithms: a Night Lights algorithm, designed to assess port activity and energy-use patterns, and an Air Quality algorithm, developed to monitor emissions and environmental conditions in and around port areas. Through these innovative EO- and AI-based solutions, the completed EO4ThePort of the Future project contributed to the advancement of smarter, greener and more data-driven ports.
